Camlock Solutions:
Since January 2006, Wind Hardware & Engineering has been working closely with a nationally renowned provider of propane fuel products on a totally innovative point of sale concept.
The challenge was to incorporate cam locks and a latching system which in effect "trapped" a customer key so that the unit can only be used one time. Once used, it can be released by on over-ride cam lock which resets the unit for use again.
Engineers at Wind quickly designed and built working proto-types for review. The combination lock & latching mechanism incorporates a core removable, 7/8 inch cam lock which interfaces with a specially designed rotary latch and a 7/8 inch override cam lock. The customer was deeply impressed with the thorough and effective solution presented and ordered that production begin at once.
The unit is now being hard tooled and will be in the public domain shortly.
Engineering / Product Development:
Wind Hardware & Engineering was approached by
a global product manufacturer with a request to insert
a locking mechanism into a new product under development.
Wind electronically received the CAD files of the product,
and the particular operating envelope and requirements
for the locking mechanism, and was able to utilize
this data to design a solution that met the customer's
needs.
Upon designing the locking mechanism, an electronic
CAD file was promptly returned (e-mailed) to the client
for inspection and engineering review. As it was forwarded
in the same format it was easy to insert into the original
CAD file for operational review. The entire design,
engineering and quotation process was completed in
a three (3) day period, and given Wind's focus
on offering superior product value, the unit cost for
the solution was far below the customer's forecasted
budget. Upon completion of the review, that included
actual product samples, the product was approved and
full production was initiated. Product was available
to the customer as required, and the customer's
product was launched on time. Another organization
successfully powered by Wind.
